HENDRICK’S GIN UNVEILS GIANT CUCUMBER MACHINE

HOLLYWOOD (Spiritsman) 9/12/17/–The people behind Hendrick’s Gin believe a lot in the cucumber and consider it vital for any decent cocktail. They unveiled their massive new machine at a VIP party at the Roosevelt Hotel in Hollywood.

The Hendrick’s Gin Grand Garnisher can achieve speeds up to 25 mph according to brand ambassador Mark Stoddard “which is thanks to a hybrid powertrain combining a large diesel motor and a well dressed gentleman pedaling a large wheeled bicycle.” He further added that “The device relies on an elaborate system of pneumatic tubing, interlocking gears and rotating blades to slice up to 18 cucumbers per hour.”

As a practical cocktail making machine it is not the most efficient but it certainly creates a buzz for the brand that has long been considered one of the best gins around. They are also solid advocates for always using a cucumber slice In the classic Gin and Tonic as opposed to the lime, and that is why the Hendrick’s people always salivate when they are called “the most unusual gin in the world.”

For those of you who prefer slicing cucumbers at home, then you need to get the Petite Garnisher which I am told is a well oiled machine that will slice perfectly all day long. This machine can be purchased online at www.cocktailkingdom.com/hendricksgarnisher.

The grand tour for the machine started out in New York in June, and I assume it will be a mainstay at the distillery as a major attraction. Hendrick’s Gin is created by a single stillman and an apprentice working on a long necked Carter-Head and a plump-bellied Pot Still.

Master distiller is the eccentric Lesley Gracie and a total of 11 botanicals are used. Awards for this gin have come thick and fast including Double Gold at the 2014 Food and Wine Magazine Gin Awards event, and the Wall Street Journal ‘World’s Best Gin’ award. Of course the popularity is helped by being part of the William Grant Distilling Company family primarily known for their whiskey portfolio which includes top quality brands like Glenfiddich and Balvenie.
