TULLAMORE D.E.W WHISKEY FROM IRELAND VERSATILITY WORKS IN ALL COCKTAILS
HOLLYWOOD (Spiritsman)5/22/17/–Tullamore Dew Irish Whiskey continues to go from strength to strength in the United States mainly thanks to their pro-active marketing policy aimed at consumers as well as the spirits media. The distillery is actually located in the town of Tullamore with a population of about 15.000, and the new distillery is the first major one to be opened in Ireland in the last 100 years. We met up recently with representatives of the brand at Tom Bergin’s Irish Pub in Los Angeles where the various expressions mixed very well with typical Irish food.
Daniel E.Williams is the founder of the brand, and after starting out shoveling barley and saving money by sleeping in haylofts he ended up owning the distillery and created the first Irish blended whiskey. The overall taste that has pleased loyal fans over the last century Is mainly down to the fact that they use three kinds of grain along with triple distillations and a blend of all three Irish with three Irish whiskey’s.
There are four expressions in the company portfolio starting out with Tullamore Original that is known as smooth and complex. It is well appreciated for its maltiness with toasted wood and vanilla overtones. The 10 year-old Single Malt which is sweet and quite fruity is the only Irish Whiskey to be matured and finished in four different casks. Those are Sherry, Bourbon, Madeira and Port.
The 12 Year Old Special Reserve is a lovely drink if you like your whiskey rich & spicy. This is a bold whiskey with woody overtones. Star of the show is Phoenix, a limited edition fiery and bold expression that is medium bodied with sherry notes.
