Beverly Hills, CA(Spiritsman)10/14/13/–Tallarico Vodka like many others is a relatively new addition to the crowded high end vodka market, but this one has a good chance we think of sticking around. Mixologists seem to like the combination of 90% common rye and 10% winter wheat that produces a smoky and peppery flavor. They won a Gold Medal at the 2013 San Francisco World Spirits Competition, and we were introduced to the brand at the Montage Hotel in Beverly Hills, one of the high profile venues around town that is stocking the drink.
Founder of Tallarico is the urbane Giancarlo Tallarico, and if there was an award for the best dressed man in the spirits industry, he would be one of the leading contenders. Hardly surprising since the family were based in Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills with a jewelry and retail store business.
Details on the distillation process are rather sketchy, and in fact neither the press materials or web site are very informative at all, and the only real information I could muster is the fact that it uses spring water from the American Mountains and uses a unique distillation process. Giancarlo is more focused on presenting a classy image and a prerception of Tallarico much more than the grainy details some of us writers like to delve into. However I did enjoy the drink by itself and in a variety of cocktails listed below.
